Alumni Profile: Emily Grogan, BFA

Upon transferring from another college, Emily excelled in the printmaking program, graduating in Spring of 2013 with her BFA. Along the way, she was honored as the Dean's Circle Award winner for the school of Art. Emily's elegant mystical realism acts as a self portrait of sorts, granting the viewer a non-surreal, yet otherworldly perspective on human/nature interaction.

Alumni Spotlight: Maddison Bailey, BFA

Maddison Bailey graduated with her BFA in art, with an emphasis in printmaking in December of 2014. Maddison's final exhibit showcased a number of watercolor monotypes she produced in her final semester at SFA. Each work is a unique print hybrid between traditional print techniques and watercolor painting.

Alumni Spotlight: Stina Herrera, MFA

Stina Herrera graduated from SFA with an MFA in Fall 2014. While her major emphasis was in art metals/jewelry, she completed a minor emphasis in printmaking. Stina deftly combined practices from both disciplines and exploited the common ground held between the two, making use of her familiarity with copper manipulation, for instance, to create some elegant blind embossments on paper. Stina's work on one hand questions the use of alert systems to communicate perceived physical and mental maladies, while another series pays tribute to her different levels of heritage, wether it be familial, academic/artistic, or otherwise.
